The Self-Service feature simplifies and automates the process of providing virtual machines for their users.
Self -Service Templates are based on “golden” virtual machines (“Golden VMs”). In order to consider a virtual machine as a “golden”, the following requirements should be met:
- The virtual machine should have either Windows 2000, or Windows XP, or Windows 2003 Server operating system already installed.
- The virtual machine should have static IP address.
- VMware ESX and VMware vCenter “golden” virtual machines must have the latest version of the VMware Tools installed.
First of all a vControl Administrator should create a Self-Service Template or a pool of several templates. This task is accomplished in the Add Golden VM Template wizard.

After the pool of VM Templates is ready, vControl Administrator should send User a linkto access Public Self-Service area. User, in his/her turn, shouldfollow the link and select the necessary Self-Service Template. Then,User will be able to customize a few settings such as size of RAM,number of VMs to be requested, and etc. Finally, User will need togenerate the request.

After the request is generated and sent, it appears in the administration area of vControl. AvControl Administrator will review the request and then will decideeither to accept or reject it. If vControl Administrator decides toaccept the request, he/she may specify additional VM and operatingsystem parameters.
After the request is accepted and a new VM or VMs are created, the User will be notified about this. Then user may use created VM/VMs.

Tell me please the steps which I need to perform like Administrator and then like a User of Self Service.
