vControl connects via DCOM to Hyper-V server. The user that is used for the connection has to have local admin privileges on Hyper-V server and should be in 'DCOM users' group. In order to add that user HVRemote script should be run as it's described in Hyper-V user guide (instructions are above)
Can you make sure that the user "mherbene" is in 'Distributed COM users' group and its account is enabled in AD/Hyper-V. Please, make sure that CMD is opened with Run as Administrator option
Verify via running HVRemote/show that user 'kets\mherbene' is added to the DCOM users group and try to discover server with vControl after this. Attach the new 'HVRemote/show' log if it won't help

I'm sorry, I posted results from the wrong target server.  I've attached the hvremote /show results from the server I'm really trying to discover from vcontrol.  It seems to have the right entries in the "Distributed COM Users", and the Windows security event log shows a successful login from the vcontrol host using the account I specified for the discovery task.

thanks

Martin

Hi Martin

Is this possible to set up webex meeting next week if we won't be able to reproduce this issue on our side?

Hello, I'm having exactly the same issues; hvremote is already done, he user is part of the administrators and DCOm is set correctly.
Can we schedule a WebEx?

AlePanzetta,

I was able to get discovery to work by making some registry permission changes in the Hyper-V host, as follows:

navigated to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID; within this key found
        72C24DD5-D70A-438B-8A42-98424B88AFB8
        changed permissions for this key
            owner to Administrators
chose "replace owner on subcontainers and objects"
            granted "full control" to Administrators
        made same changes for
        13709620-c279-11ce-a49e-444553540000

        0d43fe01-f093-11cf-8940-00a0c9054228

then restarted the Vizioncore host, and then discovery worked, at least by IP address.

I was then able to start/stop/pause existing VMs.

However, I ran into issues creating a new VM - I couldn't get anything to show up as "shared storage", I think because I wanted to use clustered storage that VZ doesn't support (at least as of November 2009).

Good luck!

Martin

Thanks Martin, I already did that step as stated in the readme file but didn't help.
Anyway I made a step forward and now the error is that the ActionPack returns "x.x.x.x is not a HyperV server" while it surely is. I tried both the real IP address and 127.0.0.1

Any clue?

P.S. I tried contacting Ludmila but had no answer
